What's new and fixes
Every DreamShow version, newest first. DreamShow tells you when a new version is available (menu ? → Check for updates).
2026.287 — 2026-10-23
New
- DreamShow is now 100% free with no ads: every feature, every DMX universe, video players, follow-spot tablets, backstage monitors, robots and masks, with no licence and no time limit. A licence already installed is no longer needed.
- AI assistant (File menu): describe what you want, for example “a full blue wash on the stage-right half”, and it sets the selected scene. It works with your own Claude API key; its changes can be kept or undone in one click.
- Connect an AI (File menu): Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, LM Studio or Gemini CLI can set DreamShow's scenes. A step-by-step wizard makes the connection in one click and checks that it works.
- Simple mode: a button in the top bar hides the advanced menus and tools for an easier start; one click brings the full mode back.
- SHEHDS L1925 Wash fixture added to the library (19 and 33 channel modes).
- Anonymous usage statistics (version, language, time of use, number of GOs), once a day, with nothing that identifies you; can be switched off in the ? menu.
Fixes
- Simulation: on some fixtures with an LED ring (12 modes of the library), the ring took the colour of another LED group.
2026.286 — 2026-10-14
New
- The teleprompter works in the free edition: text on a stage screen, control from a phone and voice follow. The other backstage display uses (messages of “Backstage display” blocks) still need a licence.
- Line recognition in English, German, Spanish and Italian, as well as French, for “Wait for a spoken line…” blocks and the voice-driven teleprompter. Choose the “Spoken language” in the block and in the teleprompter; the language's module (40 to 50 MB) is downloaded once, then everything works without Internet.
Fixes
- Trajectory editor: with LIVE on, playback now goes to the fixtures, not only to the simulator (colours stayed on the selected key).
2026.285 — 2026-10-12
New
- “Wait for a spoken line…” block: the show control listens to the microphone and goes on as soon as the actor has said their line (speech recognition in French, no Internet needed). A line said approximately also passes; a fallback key phrase and a fallback delay avoid getting stuck. The conductor shows the awaited line and what is heard.
- Teleprompter (File > Teleprompter…): the play's text on a stage screen, independent of the cue list. It moves on from a phone, a remote-control key, or by voice: “Advance by voice” follows the text said into the microphone, catches up forwards and backwards, and can show the next screen greyed out.
- Backstage displays: settings for an LED screen driven by a sending card (visible part of the picture, mirror, hidden bar, test pattern). Beta: tried in simulation, not yet on a real panel.
- Connected sockets (Venue > Connected sockets… and “Socket…” block): switch Zigbee sockets on or off (through Home Assistant or Zigbee2MQTT), Shelly or Tasmota; their state shows in the conductor. Beta: tried with simulated devices, not yet with real sockets.
- Robots: test mode in Venue > Robots… to try a move and see how far it shifted the robot; “Mark its position” and “Back to its mark” also exist as “Robot…” blocks. Needs a recent version of the robot's service. “Back to its mark” is in beta (tried in simulation).
Fixes
- The conductor window grows when it opens so that GO and the emergency buttons always stay visible.
2026.284 — 2026-10-05
New
- Built-in help: the complete user manual (54 topics, with the software's screens) opens inside DreamShow. F1 opens the topic of the window or panel under the mouse; every window and panel it explains has a “?” button. Contents, search, links between pages.
- The manual exists in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese; menu ? > User manual (PDF) to read or print it, also downloadable from the website.
Fixes
- The “Wait for a time, a date, the sun” and “Backstage display” windows are wider: the Cancel button and the offset text were clipped.
- With no PDF reader installed, the manual opens in the browser.
2026.283 — 2026-10-05
Fixes
- An update no longer overwrites your effects or the demo files you edited.
- Dynamic effects: the wave now follows the direction shown ("Stage right to stage left" really goes that way). Effects in your existing shows therefore change direction: set the offset to -360 to get the old direction back.
- After a power cut during a wait (time, date, sunset, key), the resume plays the wait again; if its time went by during the cut, the show carries on.
- LED masks: no module setting any more, DreamShow passes the commands to MaskCtl by itself.
- Robots and LED masks start as soon as the licence is activated, without restarting DreamShow.
- Zone tool: it uses the moving heads' calibration on a raised stage, and detaches the position palette like the Aim tool.
- ▶ during a wait really cancels it: playback no longer restarts by itself after a pause.
- A group dragged onto the timeline keeps its palettes, and each moving head its own position.
- The Manual controls window keeps working after the venue is saved.
- Mix: no more light dip at the end of the overlap when the second block has a long fade-in.
- Export for a standalone player: the max duration of looping scenes is respected, a show that jumps back is exported over one cycle, and the window says so.
- The robot's mode is displayed correctly ("Walking").
2026.282 — 2026-10-03
Fixes
- The ? → Support menu is removed for now: support remains available on the website, under Support.
2026.281 — 2026-10-03
New
- Parallel sequences: the "Start a parallel sequence…" block starts another part of the cue list (a storm, a looping ambience…) that evolves on its own while the main cue list moves on with Go; "End the parallel sequence…" stops it with a fade.
- Scene labels: a scene can carry a short name (for example "storm"); jumps and parallel sequences target it by this label, even when scenes are inserted or moved.
Fixes
- When playing from the editor, a block placed at the very end of the timeline was never triggered.
2026.280 — 2026-10-03
New
- Welcome screen on first launch: watch the demo in 3D, create your first show, declare your fixtures.
- First-show wizard: musical show (one scene written on each song, locked to tempo and verses/choruses, Go between songs or chained), theatre play (editable cue list: mood, stage zone, fade, operator note, sound; moving heads aim at the zone and preset in the dark), or with an AI.
- Create a show with any AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Le Chat…): DreamShow gives it the venue, robots, masks and sound files, then checks its answer before building the show.
- Venue wizard: pick your models and quantities; DMX addresses, groups and plan done automatically. Ready-made "small theatre (no moving heads)" venue.
- Self-ticking first-steps checklist, and empty panels that say what to do.
- Licence state always visible: title bar and coloured badge.
- Optional news subscription by e-mail.
- The simulation takes half of the width by default.
Fixes
- Fixtures flagged as no direction, invisible or manual (smoke, fans, UV, relays) are never lit by an automatic ambience any more.
- A stage zone is lit by the fixtures whose beam lands in it, not by those hung above it.
- The LED mask "blackout" action did not work with a non-French interface.
- Dates are shown in the interface language.
2026.279 — 2026-10-02
New
- Self-contained video player: no VLC install needed.
- Neutral demonstration in French and English; Windows language on first launch.
- Built-in support assistant (menu ? → Support) and new-version notice.
Fixes
- The video player could not find libvlc.dll when VLC was not installed.
2026.278 — 2026-10-02
New
- Colour, position and beam palettes: an updated palette changes every scene that uses it.
- Single offer: full free version in simulation, lifetime licence at €99 with 2 years of updates.
2026.277 — 2026-10-02
New
- sACN (E1.31) output.
- OSC remote, MIDI controllers with learn, web remote on phone or tablet.
- Visualizer mode (received Art-Net / sACN) and DMX recording.
- Dynamic effects (phase and spread) and pixel mapping.
- Sound-to-light and tempo (tap, MIDI clock).
- LTC and MTC timecode.
- GDTF import, fixture editor and fixture library.

Korrekturen
- The conductor window grows when it opens so that GO and the emergency buttons always stay visible.
2026.284 — 05.10.2026
2026.280 — 03.10.2026

Correcciones
- The conductor window grows when it opens so that GO and the emergency buttons always stay visible.
2026.284 — 05.10.2026
Novedades

→ Cerca aggiornamenti).
2026.287 — 23.10.2026
Novità
- Anonymous usage statistics (version, language, time of use, number of GOs), once a day, with nothing that identifies you; can be switched off in the ? menu.
Correzioni
- Simulation: on some fixtures with an LED ring (12 modes of the library), the ring took the colour of another LED group.
2026.286 — 14.10.2026
Novità
- The teleprompter works in the free edition: text on a stage screen, control from a phone and voice follow. The other backstage display uses (messages of “Backstage display” blocks) still need a licence.
- Line recognition in English, German, Spanish and Italian, as well as French, for “Wait for a spoken line…” blocks and the voice-driven teleprompter. Choose the “Spoken language” in the block and in the teleprompter; the language's module (40 to 50 MB) is downloaded once, then everything works without Internet.
Correzioni
- Trajectory editor: with LIVE on, playback now goes to the fixtures, not only to the simulator (colours stayed on the selected key).
2026.285 — 12.10.2026

Correzioni
- The conductor window grows when it opens so that GO and the emergency buttons always stay visible.
2026.284 — 05.10.2026
2026.277 — 02.10.2026

- Effetti dinamici (fase e distribuzione) e pixel mapping.
- Audio-luce e tempo (tap, MIDI clock).
